The Old Ridge Route – Original photo by McCurry Foto Co, sometime in the 1920s. Trying to nail down a date. This was taken from the entrance of Swede’s Cut, looking down towards Serpentine Drive. Arguably one of the most beautiful spots on the road and from what I have found, it seems to be the most photographed!

I went through and sharpened it up so you can see in more detail. 5 cars in the foreground and 2 more further down the road from what I can see! White stripe down the center of the highway, separating northbound and southbound lanes.

Photo is Public Domain, sourced from the CalTrans Transportation Library. Retouched and original versions shown.
